Coronavirus Update (3-16-2020)
From Mayor Jamael Tito Brown:
We are in a fight for the health of our residents. No one is happy about having to take these steps that will have a significant impact on lives. However, throughout this crisis, Governor DeWine has consistently made decisions based on the most current information available, in the best interest of the safety and welfare of our residents.
Governor DeWine and Secretary of State LaRose plan to move Election Day to June 2. Votes already cast will count and the voting will continue via absentee ballot until Election Day. We will make it through these difficult times, Youngstown!
This afternoon, Governor DeWine also ordered the closing of the following establishments: bowling alleys, movie theaters, gyms and fitness centers, indoor recreation centers, indoor trampoline parks, and indoor water parks.
In the City of Youngstown, the Eugenia Atkinson Recreation Center is closed until further notice.
Social and spacial distancing is highly encouraged. The Center for Disease Control recommends keeping gatherings to 50 people or less. As an example of how information is ever changing, during a press conference this afternoon, the White House urged all Americans to keep gatherings to 10 people or less.
