"Big Truck Day"

Youngstown Fire Department's Engine 7, along with members of the Street Dept and YPD Community Police Unit, were recently at Harding Elementary for what was detailed as "Big Truck Day".
The various departments were there for Harding's field day to show Engine 7, a Police vehicle, and a Street Department dump truck and street sweeper.
As the children came to each piece of City equipment, crews talked to them about their jobs and how the equipment is used for each situation. The children were given the opportunity to climb inside each piece of equipment to see the crews' points of view and learn how the various controls work.
The biggest source of excitement, of course, was the sounds of the horns and sirens. Because of the close proximity to the school and surrounding residential neighborhood, the use of these were kept at a minimum, however.
All grade levels of Harding students had their chance to see the equipment and chat with the crews.
