Persons in active military status are not required to serve. Written documentation of active military status is required. Upload proof documents below.
Persons 75 years of age or older can qualify to be excused but are still welcome to serve. Persons under the age of 18 are not eligible to serve.
Persons who are the sole caregiver to an ill or disabled family member can qualify to be excused. Written documentation from the family member’s physician is required. Upload proof documents below.
Persons who have an obligation to provide childcare during business hours Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm and do not have a comparable care solution are eligible to be excused.
Persons who have prior felony convictions that are currently under sanctions by the court are not eligible to serve. If you are no longer on probation or parole, your rights are restored.
Persons who are currently enrolled as a full-time student can qualify to be excused but are still welcome to serve. Proof of enrollment status is required. Upload proof documents below.
Persons who have an employer that does not pay for jury service are eligible to be excused. Please be sure to check the company’s complete policy on how jury service is handled. (Also see Self-Employed)
Persons may be unable to serve for medical reasons. Written documentation from a physician is required stating that the person is unable to serve for medical reasons. Upload proof documents below.
Jurors are required to be able to speak, read, write, and communicate in the English language.
Persons who are no longer a resident of Youngstown or not a citizen of the United States are not eligible to serve. Written documentation of a new address is required or a copy of a current utility bill. Upload proof documents below.
Persons who are self-employed and would suffer financial hardship are not required to serve. Written documentation is required or provide a copy of your most recent tax return. Upload proof documents below.
