The Youngstown Fire Department is among the best prepared, trained, and equipped departments in the Mahoning Valley. The YFD maintains 7 stations, located throughout the City, ensuring adequate fire protection to all City residents.
Youngstown is revered for its Insurance Service Organization (ISO) Class 2 Fire Protection Rating, a distinction known to only 2% of the nation's 49,000 rated fire districts.

- Call 9-1-1 for emergency situations that require immediate assistance from the Police, Fire Department, or an ambulance.

- Cell phone calls to 9-1-1 will not register your exact location. Give information to the 9-1-1 operator to help locate you, such as city, address, street name, nearest intersection street names, landmark buildings, etc.

The City of Youngstown Fire Prevention Code may be found in Part Fifteen of the Codified City Ordinances.
Of particular importance are the regulations concerning Open Burning (Chapter 1511).
